Why must they torment moderators by hinting at stuff?
Now for thoughts on the titles. Nobody has mentioned this, but there might be some relation to needing a certain rank of the demonslayer title to farm them...? Who knows.

Guess what. The world favors people who try harder. And games should too to some extent. If a guy wants to grind for hours to get a 3 % advantage over me good for him give him his fun. As long as its only a small percentage i'm not going to fret about. They already gave me cheap perfect weapons cheap perefct armor and made the game very little about farming. Its not like giving people who want to grind a little something to work for will prevent me or anyone else from being competitive in the game.

Good thing people here trust anet to know what they are doing...
I seriously doubt that they will add something that acctually unbalance the game.
Personally i would have prefered emotes/cool auras/effects rather then bonuses tho.

Seriously, how can ppl complain about things that'l keep u playing longer? its only a damn mod anyways, u could live without the salvaging option for a year now right? u dont want to grind cuz ur casual? dont, its not really an actual advantage anyways, as far as the lightbringer title goes, u have to remember, there will be quests, challenge missions (if im not mistaken), so u can achieve the title, stop whinin about every single thing that happens in gw ffs.

One would guess that it would be fairly easy to earn this Lightbringer title, and the fact is that when you get it, you're going to feel great that you've actually done some good.

It all depends on the bonuses you get from the titles. If you get a increased chance to save the item when salvaging from a Wisdom title, that's fine in my opinion. It doesn't directly affect the gameplay, only a very small effect on the economy. Although I wish there were more challenge into getting the title instead of just pure grind.
Lightbringer sounds a lot worse. Will every group in the game refuse to bring me along because I haven't farmed for a title giving me vital protection against demon enemies?
I'm curious how the other bonuses are. If something like Cartographer gives additional information about zones so you know what bosses and elite skills you can get where, I think that would be rather clever. On the other hand, if something like Protector gives a native 5% reduction of all damage, that would be absolutely awful. And will have a nasty effect on the game's balance and will bring more stupid elitism.

I thought "effects" in the thread title referred to emotes for some reason when I saw the thread... so I was going to say "yay, give PvE titles some flashy stuff, so not only /rank has an emote"
But this? Well, I don't care much, since I don't have many high PvE titles other than skill hunter, so as long as the percentages aren't game-breaking and this won't seriously screw anything up, I think it's neat.
But if it affects PvP, me = quit GW. I'm rank 9, mind you, but I still don't want anything that destroys the level field in PvP, even if it's me who'll have an advantage over 95% of the people... but I'm pretty sure anet has enough common sense to keep it PvE-only.

Things that help with Salvage is great.. but i am concerned with the others that effect PvE.. I don't want to hear people demanding people have a certain title maxed. That's all.. otherwise it's a create idea! Something to kill the hours besides farming.. and getting a benifit from it like crafting so to speak.
"Life Skills" are a great idea.

I think this is an awesome idea! but I don't want it to affect pvp in anyway.
I don't really see why everyone is making a fuss about it... I doubt the bonuses are anything major and I doubt they will affect how you get excepted into groups.

The truth is, they will.
Examples:
-certain farming guilds won't allow people in unless they have friend of luxons/kurzicks
-most pvp HA groups or guilds won't let people join unless they're certain rank or above
-some successful mission+bonus groups require the player to show some sort of title proving (maybe mapping, or other protector title) that they know what they're doing
-almost all groups discriminate against assassins and mesmers because of their skillset and lack of damage/tanking in pve
If a person with a certain title gets to deal more damage than another, the other will be seen as inferior (kind of like assassin to a tank, or mesmer to an echo nuker) and not accepted into some groups. Just being able to show titles is already causing discrimination, and allowing the titles to have effects will cause even more discrimination. Too bad for starters, eh?

Which is why titles should be account based. Titles show accomplishments of the player, not individual characters.

elitism is seriously overrated. some of you people gotta cut back on blaming everything for such a minor problem.
I think it's a really good change.
1)it seems to affect PvE only, meaning that there will be no worries for pvpers.
2)the effects seem to be minor.
just be optimistic about it. finally we have a reason for getting titles. im going to try and get some now!
